President Goodluck Jonathan has implored residents of Lagos State to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels in the forthcoming general polls with a view to liberate the state from the tyranny of one man.

Jonathan, who stated this Thursday night when the leaders of market women groups, the Iyalojas, in Lagos and its environs paid him a solidarity visit at the State House, Marina, Lagos, was reacting to the complaints by the market women that they suffer untold harassment.

Earlier, the leader of the market women (Iyalojas), Hajia Aminat Hussein had lamented that they had been suffering untold harassment due to the highhandedness and witch hunting tactics of the Lagos State government.

But Jonathan assured the market women and all traders in the country that the PDP administration would provide the enabling environment for them to engage in their trade without harassment.

He thanked the women traders for standing solidly behind his re-election bid, even as he urged them not to be intimidated by the antics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the country belongs to every Nigerian.

He said, “Our victory at the polls will free all Lagos traders from oppression. You need to be free. We will remove Lagos from bondage.

“I have listened to you. You have been carrying the PDP flag. You have been humiliated but you still march on. Thank you for working hard for PDP. This is the final struggle and time for us to use all our strength to achieve victory.”

The leader of the market assured the president that in spite of the attempts by the APC to buy them over, the market women would mobilise their members in the state and other states in the federation to ensure victory for the president.

“We are promising you that you will not lose in Lagos. This coming election is for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and God is with you,” she stated.
