While fans are still mourning the end of Abelena, ,Justin Bieber is “happy” about Selena Gomez‘s recent split from The Weeknd, a source close to Bieber tells PEOPLE .

“Justin is happy Selena is single. He hopes to regain her trust so they can get back together,” says the source.

While an insider previously told PEOPLE the exes are not back together despite spending quality time together over the weekend, the Bieber source says the entertainer, 23, would love nothing more than to rekindle their romance.

The Weeknd ”Upset” Over Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber Hangout

When Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were spotted hanging out last week, and The Weeknd was fine with it…but apparently things have changed.

As we confirmed earlier today, Gomez and The Weeknd decided to split sometime last week, and while we’re told Bieber was “no factor” in their breakup, a source tells  E!.

Not only was Bieber photographed hanging out at Gomez’s house last weekend, they were also spotted enjoying breakfast at JOi Cafe in Westlake Village, Calif., on Sunday—just a few days after Gomez and The Weeknd called it quits.

Now, a source tells E! News, “Abel is upset about Selena hanging out with Justin, especially twice in the same week.”
