Popular English singer-songwriter, Sam Smith has opened up for the first time about his thoughts on gender identity and belonging, giving fans a rare glimpse into who he was and who he has become.
Speaking with Sunday Times, the Stay With Me singer talked about his sexuality, and why it took him so long to come out. “Looking back on it, it was the fear of saying the wrong thing and offending,” the 25-year-old singer said.
He continued, “And I was 19 when I started writing the first album. I’d just moved to London from a village—I was literally the only gsy in the village. I didn’t know what I wanted to say.”
