[Princess Shyngl] illness comes as doctors warned that waist trainers, or corsets that women wear to achieve a smaller waist, can cause damage to internal organs.
Dr Galyna Selezneva, an aesthetic medical doctor who works at a London-based cosmetic surgery, spoke to MailOnline about the problems that can be associated with waist training, including changes to the ribs, bone structure and inner organ positions.
She said: ‘If someone gets addicted to wearing a waist trainer day after day the inner organs will shift.
‘There will be a disbalance in the cavity as it is not normal to have such as small waist.
‘There can also be changes to the ribs and bone structures. Obviously if you are wearing them repeatedly, you are not exercising the muscles so they are also wasting.’
Dr Galyna also added that kidney disease can cover a variety of illness including kidney stones, which would not be down to waist trainers.
Peter Lemon, an expert personal trainer, also previously told the Irish Examiner: ‘Waist training can have some serious health risks due to compression – such as skin infections, pulmonary problems, kidney issues and lung issues.’
