Good News Tweeps: Twitter to End 140 Character Tweet Capacity And Increase It To 10,000

Twitter is working on a product that will allow users to share content longer than 140 characters. Twitter is currently testing a version of the product in which tweets appear the same way they do now, displaying just 140 characters, with some kind of call to action that there is more content you can’t see,’ the site says.

‘Clicking on the tweets would then expand them to reveal more content. ‘The point of this is to keep the same look and feel for your timeline, although this design is not necessarily final, sources say.’
CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey is spearheading the project, code-named ‘140 Plus,’ according to a previous report in the Wall Street Journal.
It is is looking at different ways users can extend its signature 140-character limit, according to people familiar with the matter.

The site is aiming to compete with the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and WeChat, which have invested heavily in their own messaging capabilities.

Twitter has finally removed the 140-character limit on its DMs, making it the first aspect of the social media platform free of any word limit. The feature is rolling out globally, with Twitter saying the aim is to allow users to ‘express themselves’ more freely.

Let’s hear your opinion, do you think this is good news really? Because someone said majority of what people tweet is rubbish, so they’ll just be giving out an opportunity for people to tweet more crap. What do you think?
