APC seeks investigation, prosecution on leaked audio file of Ekiti governorship election

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has petitioned the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), seeking investigation and prosecution of those indicted in the leaked audio file on Ekiti governorship election.

The audio file released by Sahara Reporters, an online publication, detailed how Governor Ayodele Fayose, then candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party; a former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro; Osun PDP governorship candidate, Iyiola Omisore; Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan and the military allegedly rigged the June 21, 2014 poll in Ekiti.

The APC urged Adoke to investigate the matter to bring persons involved to justice, warning that failure to act would compel it to approach the court to seek an Order of Mandamus compelling him to so act.

The party also petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Sulaiman Abba; and Independent National Electoral Commission, asking them to prosecute “persons involved in conspiring and perpetrating acts to unseat former Governor Kayode Fayemi in a manner other than that envisaged by the Constitution.”

In the February 13 petition by the Ekiti State Chairman of APC, Chief Olajide Awe, the party called the attention of the agencies to the audio file recorded by Captain Sagir Koli of the 32 Artillery Brigade, based in Akure, which was released to the public.
